SLIDE 3 - Uboat U-47
A German submarine U-47 was settling on the sea bed just south of the Orkney Islands to await nightfall. Korvettenkapitan Gunther Prien was tasked with putting Operation North Sea No 16. into effect. This planned to insert a submarine into the anchorage at Scapa Flow to cause maximum damage to the Home Fleet.
